Chess Coaching Levels at CHESS KLUB HSR Layout
Every child who joins our centre in Sector 2 starts at the level matching their current ability, then works forward through a fixed progression. Five levels cover fundamentals, tactics, strategy, endgames and competitive preparation. Here is the goal of each stage and what your child will achieve by completing it.
Beginner Level Program
Built for students starting from zero, covering how the pieces move, opening principles, basic tactics, fundamental checkmates and pawn structures. By the end, your child can play a full game with confidence and convert simple winning positions.
Beginner (Level 1)
Goal
Transform complete beginners into confident chess players who understand all rules and can play full games.
What You'll Achieve
Master all piece movements and special rules (castling, en passant)
Learn basic checkmate patterns and simple tactics
Develop opening principles and avoid common beginner mistakes
Play complete games with proper notation
Beginner (Level 2)
Goal
Build solid tactical foundation and introduce tournament-level play.
What You'll Achieve
Master fundamental tactical patterns (forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks)
Learn opening principles and basic opening systems
Understand basic endgame concepts and techniques
Develop tournament skills including notation and clock usage
Intermediate Level Program
Where students stop reacting and start planning — piece strengths and weaknesses, middle-game strategy, blunder avoidance, and a deep dive into tactics and endgames. By the end, they can solve puzzles independently, build an attack and finish games cleanly.
Intermediate (Level 1)
Goal
Develop structured approach to openings, middlegame planning, and practical endgames.
What You'll Achieve
Learn and master advanced tactical patterns and calculation methods
Learn and master systematic opening systems for both 1.e4 and 1.d4
Understand middlegame strategy and positional concepts
Build solid endgame foundation with rook and pawn endings
Intermediate (Level 2)
Goal
Master advanced tactics, understand pawn structures, and develop personal playing style.
What You'll Achieve
Master complex tactical patterns (overloading, deflection, interference)
Understand pawn structure imbalances and their strategic implications
Build comprehensive opening repertoire with multiple systems
Develop advanced endgame skills and positional understanding
Advanced Level Program
A competitive track covering opening repertoires, sacrifice, specialist endgames, and both positional and game analysis. Students learn to analyse their own play, work on their rating and prepare seriously for rated tournaments.
Advanced (Level 1)
Goal
Develop complete opening repertoire and master classical endgames for competitive play.
What You'll Achieve
Build comprehensive opening repertoire for both 1.e4 and 1.d4
Master deep calculation and visualization techniques
Understand advanced positional concepts and strategic sacrifices
Develop tournament psychology and preparation methods
Advnaced (Level 2)
Goal
Achieve competitive mastery for national/international tournament play.
What You'll Achieve
Master advanced opening preparation with novelties
Develop master-level calculation and visualization
Understand complex strategic concepts and endgame theory
Achieve tournament readiness for serious competitive play
